During my time studying architecture, I learned the principles of designing functional spaces. However, it wasn’t until the pandemic hit that I fully realized the transformative power of a well-designed home. My partner Phil and I had the opportunity to transform a barn into a spacious loft apartment. We spent a year designing and building it and then we lived in it for a year. It was during this time, amid the restrictions that confined us indoors, that I experienced the profound impact of a well-designed home on a deeply personal level.
Every day, waking up in that space was an incredible feeling. The memories we created hosting dinners, having spontaneous dance parties, and cozy date nights will live with me forever. Having a home that empowers you to live your best life - whatever you may envision that to be - is the greatest gift you can give to yourself. I started Madu Interiors because I fell in love with the idea of giving others that same transformative experience with their own home.
